Sheriff decided to part ways in 1985. Freddy Curci, Steve DeMarchi, and Steve's brother Dennis DeMarchi borrowed money from their families to build their own studio. Platinum Sound, a modest studio assembled in Steve's basement, boasted a wine cellar--stocked with vintage Marshalls and Hammond keyboards.

Platinum Sound earned its name with the recording of "More Than Words Can Say." During the early stages of the new project, and without their knowledge, the original Sheriff record was re-released (read the Sheriff bio on page 4). The single, "When I'm With You," hit #1 on the Billboard Charts.

The heat was on but with no Sheriff. Freddy and Steve deputized former Heart member's Roger Fisher, Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier. Alias began.

The record was a hit out of the box; it went gold in the US and platinum in Canada. The Alias debut yielded 3 top singles including "More Than Word Can Say," "Haunted Heart," and "Waiting for Love."

Plus 2 top five MTV videos.

Alias made Television appearances on Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.

BMI presented Freddy with the Million-airs award for "More Than Words Can Say."

According to BMI's web site, only 1,500 songs have achieved Million-air status (one million air plays) among the 4.5 million songs by 300,000 BMI represented artists.

One million performances is the equivalent of approximately 50,000 broadcast hours, or more than 5.7 years of continuous airplay.

Never Say Never features founding members Freddy Curci

and Steve DeMarchi. The record was recorded over five months in West Orange, New Jersey, 1992. Freddy Curci

re-recorded a few of the songs for Dreamer's Road in 1994, bootleg versions were distributed online and on eBay, but the orginal recordings remained in the vault.

In 2009 EMI Canada finally remastered the tracks and released the record on March 3, 2009, with an appropriate title. Another unual senario for the Curci-DeMarchi team.
